TIME. TALENT. TREASURE.

For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve...

Mark 10:45

2021 Commitment Form

At this time of year, when our hearts and minds turn to giving thanks, it is my privilege to ask you once again to prayerfully consider how you will give thanks God and respond to God’s great love in the coming year.  While this year’s family gatherings have been, and may continue to look quite different than in years past, the ministries of our church go on.  Indeed, in many ways, the ministries of the church are more important than ever.  So, as you gather with others this holiday season, or observe alone or in smaller groups, times of thanksgiving, I pray you will take some time to pause and count your blessings, and respond accordingly.
In September we took time in worship to consider the “Marks of Discipleship.”  Among them, we believe, are (1) the practice of regular worship with your Family of Faith, (2) taking steps to intentionally grow in your faith, (3) serving God by serving others, and (4) giving of ourselves to God, including our finances.
You will find enclosed a  Time-Talent-Treasure form.  We share this to give you a tangible way to express to your church AND TO GOD your intention to live out these four marks of discipleship in your life in the year to come.  I’m asking you now to fill out the form, and return it to the church by Sunday, November 22nd.
What is the Time-Talent-Treasure form?  It is our church’s tool to help our members and committed friends express to God how one might give thanks to God through serving and giving in the year to come.  It is a good way for us to express to our church’s leadership that we are “on board” with the ministries of this church, and want to be part of them.  It is a tangible expression of our gratitude to God that reflects intentional discipleship, rather than giving to God as an afterthought.

What the Time-Talent-Treasure form is NOT:
It is NOT a legally binding contract to give a certain amount or to serve in a particular way.

It is NOT a budget building device.  Our Leadership Team is already crafting a Budget for Ministry for 2021 based on our prayerful discernment of what God is calling us to do.

It is NOT a restrictive document, limiting how we may serve or what we may give in 2021 and beyond.
So, please:
Pray about how you might fill out your Time-Talent-Treasure form.
Discuss with your spouse/family, if you have one, or folks from your church family if you live as a single, what talents you have and what gifts you can share to honor and serve God in 2021.

Fill out your Time-Talent-Treasure form, both top and bottom (both sides), as it may apply, and seal it in the enclosed return envelope marked “confidential.” If you are downloading this form electronically, it may be submitted via email (in which case it will be seen by our office staff), or it may be printed and returned in a sealed enveloped that is labeled "2021 Commitment Form."

Finally, RETURN your form to church on Sunday, November 22 in the manner most convenient to you.  Stamp and mail it.  Drop it off in the church office.  Bring it to worship any Sunday.  Download and complete this form and email it to office@westlawnumc.org.

Thank you for your place in this Body of Christ!  Thank you for your desire to honor God with your Time, Talent and Treasure!  Thank you for partnering with us here at West Lawn United Methodist Church, and for serving through our ministries, this year and in the year to come!
