Proverbs 28:13 (New Living Translation)

People who conceal their sins will not prosper,
but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.

I think this may mean, just because we do something in secret doesn’t mean it is not a sin - in order to stop our sins we must admit to them and genuinely repent- and then we can be forgiven by God’s mercy
I hear God reminding me that even though he knows our sins, knows our hearts, it still serves a purpose to confess them to God through prayer.
We must acknowledge our sin, take ownership of it, and then sincerely repent and change our hearts and behaviors, in order to receive forgiveness
